Re: recent move
[edit]As far as I know, we do not usually put honorific job titles such as "Cardinal" in the titles of articles. We don't even do this for monarchs. I realize it is a common way of referring to him (but "Queen Elizabeth II of England" is common—so to speak—, too). Ultimately I don't care a lot about this in any respect other than consistency. -- Jmabel | Talk 23:22, Apr 5, 2005 (UTC)
It seems to be the standard for Cardinals to do it this way. John Cardinal O'Connor. RickK 23:34, Apr 5, 2005 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Western clergy)#Cardinals indicates to me that the title should be without "Cardinal". Google (and Google Books) searches indicate he is usually known without the title. He does not seem to meet any of the exceptions at the NC page. Olessi 21:37, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
