I propose removing the "List of" in the listings. Since all entries currently have "L" as the first alphabet, it becomes difficult to browse though and find what we want. Hence "List of sportsmen" will become just "Sportsmen" although it'll point to List of sportsmen. Jay 18:54, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Sounds like a good idea. I'd prefer keeping some sort of marker (e.g. ¹ ) for the lists that aren't on pages named "list of". -- User:Docu
I don't know if anyone is even watching this page... but i removed red links due to wiki styleguides. Some (like Broadcasters) are an easy compile for someone who works with lists a lot, others (like Teachers) would require a lot of hard work crawling through the links. The list seems, to me, to be lacking information technologists! It would be useful to gather, for instance, founders of software firms, CIOs of large organizations, etc. Busicksmith (talk) 18:35, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's neither arbitrary nor excessively long. The title and lede define the list, and there are a finite number of those lists. Categories do not replace Lists of Lists articles, and list articles prevent the individual list articles within them from being orphans. Ideally, there should be both. I might support having separate "Lists of people by academic discipline", "Lists of people in the entertainment industry by occupation" and this page only including "common" occupations like lawyers or chefs. I don't support the existence of a page where everything under the sun is included. Power~enwiki (talk) 21:43, 4 June 2017 (UTC) (moved from AfD)[reply]
