E3

[edit]

Is Sony's "humiliation" at E3 in 2006 really a necessary addition ? Caciss 06:14, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think both events listed under 2006 are trivial and should be removed. Neither meets the criteria outlined here. Fabricationary 06:16, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I removed both entries for 2006. Caciss 06:24, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will second that, the E3 things need to be fixed again. 67.171.165.203 18:34, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Coke

[edit]

Removed from article:

I could not confirm this and the New Coke article gives an April date. --mav 23:12, 3 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Why can't this be an external link? thisdaythatyear.com/may/people8.htm ThisDayThatYear.com on May 8? Kingturtle 07:42, 7 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"Be careful when using 'this day in history'-type websites as a reference". RickK 08:06, May 7, 2005 (UTC)

Saints Wiro, Plechelmus and Otger

[edit]

The link in today's commemorations goes to St Lambert, where these saints are not even mentioned. Alpheus (talk) 10:30, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed. Don't be afraid to remove such items. If you make a mistake, someone will put it back. Be bold. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 15:18, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

World Red Cross Red Crescent Day

[edit]

Why is it that World Red Cross Red Crescent Day is mentioned in the selected anniversaries box but isn't mentioned in the main text of the article itself? The Red Cross is mentioned under the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, but shouldn't there be a separate entry under holidays and observances? --Paul_012 (talk) 06:39, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Julian of Norwich

[edit]

In May 2008, I added that this was the feast day of Julian of Norwich in both Anglican and Lutheran churches, but this has now been removed. Can some please explain why? If you go to the Wikipedia article Julian of Norwich, this is exactly what the article says. The date of May 13 is her commemoration day in Roman Catholicism; I recently corrected this for May 13. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 18:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, there's no mention of May 8 in that article, not not much mention of May 13. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 23:10, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It might not be in the article itself, but it is in a table that appears in the top-right hand corner when you read the article. So, please go to Julian of Norwich and look at the top right-hand corner. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 16:41, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

why is it mentioned as an event as well as a death, when senna's may 1st is only in deaths? should there not be a standard form for these? im not sure about all the other deaths, but it needs to match from page to page imo. chocobogamer LOOK AT WHAT I DID 23:56, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Except in exceptional circumstances (9/11?), deaths should only be listed in the #Deaths section, not in the #Events section. Thanks. 00:32, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Births and deaths

[edit]

In accordance with the guidelines, I'm weeding the Births and Deaths sections by removing entries for celebrities with 0-4 articles in other languages. Where possible, these will be transferred to the relevant Year in Topic articles. As well as making the lists more manageable, this will help with the globalization effort.Deb (talk) 13:09, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Afrikaans

[edit]

I’ve moved the entry about Afrikaans from the 5th, to the 8th, of May: as this is when the entry says the language got official South African recognition. Cuddy2977 (talk) 15:44, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mary Magdalene was born on May 8, 2 BC / 8.5.752 AUC

[edit]

Astronomer Jack Horkheimer serendipitously discovered Mary Magdalene's birthday of May 8, 2 BC / 8.5.752 AUC / 3759 HC.

Then it should be no problem to find a reliable source for that....Lectonar (talk) 13:41, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

for Holidays and observances - add Victor Maurus

[edit]

The article on Victor Maurus mentions today as his feast day - I suggest he be added. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 02:25, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

for another source, he is mentioned in the Roman Martyrology for this day: http://www.boston-catholic-journal.com/roman-martrylogy-in-english/roman-martyrology-may-in-english.htm#May_8th --2607:FEA8:D5DF:1AF0:AD20:B600:FF9E:4E34 (talk) 15:04, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Holidays and observances Apparition of St Michael

[edit]

the link goes to the article of St Michael where there is no mention of an apparition on this day. Should be removed. --2607:FEA8:D5DF:F3D9:A4CD:8FEC:A8DA:65F5 (talk) 12:31, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is there, although under a different section name. I've adjusted the link to point to the correct section. —Bruce1eetalk 12:44, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Phyllida Law

[edit]

This page tells us Phyllida Law was born on 8th May, 1932.

But her article tells us her birthday was on 6th July.

Can someone double check this, and do the necessary corrections, please? I wouldn’t know where to start!
