Welcome to userland Two halves! --mav

Gee, thanks mav. I didn't even know this page was here until 12-19-02, but there's just so much in Wikiland to keep up with.

Hi Two halves. Regarding the note on your user page -- Maybe it would be a good idea to mention something about not being put off by other people's comments on the Welcome Newcomers page. I for one very nearly put off a new user the other week, as I can be rather curt in my talk page comments. -- Tarquin 19:15 Jan 26, 2003 (UTC)

  • Tarquin, I think that I will move the note to newcomers to the talk page for Welcome Newcomers, where it can be added at will. Thank you for the suggestion. Two Halves

Deviation: you can't compare Just a Minute to My Word because there's no Wikipedia entry for My Word! ridetheory

  • Sure I can. There just is not an article for My Word yet. You might write one, as might I, soon perhaps... Two halves 05:05 Apr 16, 2003 (UTC)
    • Forgive me -- I was just being snotty by trying to write an article in the style of the show. I have since gone back and actually added some repetition to the Just a Minute article, because the paragraph on the deaths of the players makes the point moot. Glad you followed up with the My Word article, though I still think I deserve a point for a correct challenge.ridetheory
      • Yes, you win the point.Two halves 04:12 Apr 20, 2003 (UTC)
        • You're a very good chairman; very fair! ridetheory

re: My Word! message at User talk:Paul A

You're welcome. Luckily, I live in a part of the world where My Word! is repeated regularly. I was listening to it this morning, in fact, and I was on the verge of creating the article for it myself.

"there's a sandbox in my rave!!!!!!" is the funniest thing i've seen all week!! i've been patient with that user, though, because although his/her syntax isn't grand and his/her desire to understand how wikipedia works isn't all there, he/she posts some interesting analysis. Kingturtle 06:06 Apr 17, 2003 (UTC)

  • Sadly, I can not remember the edit that I made to the rave party article. I wasn't sure if it was going to work, so I proclaimed, "There's a sandbox in my rave!" (I don't think that a sandbox at an actual rave party would be such a good idea.) We all can use a little levity every once in awhile. --Two halves 04:12 Apr 20, 2003 (UTC)

Baby names and newbies

[edit]

Thanks for the compliment! Do you actually put that "Note to Newcomers" message on new user's pages. I think that might scare me off if I was new. Angela not on a pogo stick neither.

  • No, I don't put the "Note to Newcomers" message on new user's pages. It's there just because... well just because. --Two halves 07:18, 1 Jan 2004 (UTC)

You're welcome. It was just an easy cut-paste-search-replace-cut-paste for me, and it seemed to me like you could easily find a way to spend your time doing something more fun! - Nunh-huh 02:10, 19 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Guitar solo

[edit]

Thanks, Two Halves! I tried to incorporate your (I think it was your) edits as well, which helped. I think we might need to factor out Rock guitar solo, or something, because there's a big difference between that and solo guitar instrumentation in general; not sure though -- do you have any thoughts? — Matt 02:17, 9 Jul 2004 (UTC)

  • As I said as a comment, one could write a book about this. But, I think that the article is just concise enough to get the idea across. A Rock guitar solo article might be good, but it would still be broad. (Get from Chuck Berry to Duane Eddy to George Harrison to Jimi Hendrix to Dwayne Allman to Eddie Van Halen to Eric Johnson to, well, you get the point here.) Still, there a possibility of a good article there. Yours, User:Two halves

What an interesting way to read a word! In my opinion, we should use the Runic alphabet for English - the letters are easy to tell apart. MikeStorm 00:01, 6 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

GhostNet rollback

[edit]

I have rv my rollback of your delinking of SkyNet on the GhostNet article. I don't understand your dab concern as SkyNet has a dab page, but if you feel it needs to be delinked I defer to your judgement. Thanks. Tiderolls 20:38, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

head transplant

[edit]

Hi Two Halves. Re your comment on the discussion page for Head Transplant, the book "If We Can Keep a Severed Head Alive: Discorporation and U.S. Patent 4,666,425" by Chet Fleming is available on Link. I checked it out a while back but don't remember much about it, except that it was interesting and that maybe Chet Fleming is a pseudonym for Robert White. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.198.46.206 (talk) 02:17, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Two halves! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 42 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the article:
