Help
[edit]Hgfernan, here is what you need:
Click here: Votes for deletion#VfD footer and follow the steps.
If you are still confused, give me the page name.
I hope that can help you sort your problem out. Svest 04:00, May 2, 2005 (UTC)
Why did you delete the nomination for "Brendan Penfield?"
[edit]I found your reasons justified for nominating the article. (I was the one that fixed your nomination and added the deletion page, of course.) That page needs to be deleted. It was created by a person that has a history of vandalism. I'm putting back up on the Votes for Deletion page. :-) --Chill Pill Bill 04:03, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Mu-Fi, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Mu-Fi is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Mu-Fi, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Ed Kalnins
[edit]Thanks for your support. User Wasilla AG (Wasilla Assembly of GOd) has editors and administrators who have been deleting all quotes of Ed Kalnins, have blocked mention of Kalnins on Palin's Wikipedia page, and have blocked the Wasilla Assembly of God link on Palin's page from taking anyone to the page.
The three articles I wrote (and referenced with links to actual videotapes of him saying these things) were all deleted.
I was threatened that if I tried to put any of the quotes that are generating all the press in an article, and reference them to the actual videotapes, I would be blocked from ever posting again.
Here is some information that was deleted, without a trace. You can try posting it:
1. According to Robert Stern of The New Jersey Times of Trenton reports that “The Rev. Ed Kalnins had no way of knowing he'd become a controversial figure in this year's presidential race when he left his West Amwell congregation nine years ago to preach in a sister church in Alaska.”
Stern also writes that “Since taking his sermons to Alaska, Kalnins has preached that critics of President Bush will be banished to hell; questioned whether people who voted for Sen. John Kerry in 2004 would be accepted into heaven...”

Singular or plural ?
[edit]My understanding is that, in general, article names are singular and category names are plural. Hope that helps. I believe there is something in the MoS that covers this. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:38, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
E-learning/version 2
[edit]I didn't create the article; all I did was change a template that had been added to it by someone else. Bearcat (talk) 00:11, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- And I only added a category to it. :)—S Marshall Talk/Cont 00:17, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- The notification template should, as a rule, only be added to the talk page of the original creator and/or people who made major content contributions to it — generally, if you're not inclined to go through the whole edit history to evaluate how major each individual edit was, though, then you should stick to the original creator. Hope that helps a bit :-) Bearcat (talk) 00:21, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
The article Marc Collin has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. j⚛e deckertalk 04:12, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, j⚛e deckertalk ! No offense taken. But thanks for being kind anyway. That way we can avoid unpleasant and unneeded reactions. Congrats for being so.
- The problem with inserting references to the important work of the musician Marc Collin is that it is next to impossible find any reference to him. 8-o
- This guy surely doesn't believe in personal marketing. 8-)
- The Wikipedia article in French is one of the few references i could find. Can it be considered so ?
- I'll try to discuss this matter with other people. Thanks again for your kindness and good information.
- All the best,
- --Hgfernan (talk) 00:33, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- References in French are fine. (When there are equivalent references in English, that's certainly a bit preferred, but non-English sources are totally okay.) Thanks! --j⚛e deckertalk 03:27, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- PS: Thanks for adding a ref! --j⚛e deckertalk 03:27, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for October 12
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Pedro Kilkerry, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Symbolism (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]- Hi HG!
- RE: Celso Furtado Yes of course: you're absolutely right,,, his early writings & work at the helm of BNDE are v. much remarkable ...
- Do you have time to write a short paragraph summarizing succinctly his 2 or main views?
- If not, I'll work on this upon my return = end April
- Cordially

- Hello, Bj !
- B.Andersohn (talk) 16:46, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your prompt and kind answer. I will write a little about Furtado and CEPAL in the context of Developmentalism. I'm trying to learn more economics, and that will be a fine way to do so. As a more experienced editor of economics, please correct me, if i'm wrong.
- Furtado and CEPAL were highly praised here, in an earlier generation. So, please feel free to correct my enthusiastic presentation of their work. 8-)
- All the best,

Your citation question answered by WP's 3 Core Content Policies: Verifiability from Reliable Source with No Original Research
[edit]@Hgfernan: Welcome back to Wikipedia! I appreciate your user page welcome to receiving advice "from older Wikipedia users about editing standards". I'm old enough ;)
You asked:
- Can a Wikipedia article be used as a citation source ?
- Can other articles in Wikipedia provide the citation demanded in the article Geany.
- Can they be used as a reference source, to provide the citation needed ?
Good, but complex questions. Principles, not rules, simplify. WP Policies are the principles in question. So you need to think it through. The answer is No, Yes, and Maybe (I've referenced each with the 3 all-important content policies that guide my editing as a helpfully intended refresh for your return to Wikipedia editing):
- No because Verifiability (aka WP:V) would fail if one Wikipedia article itself was cited by another. (Details in that page's circular section.)
- Yes because a Reliable Source (aka WP:RS) can certainly be used on more than one article. Checking other related articles' references is OK. But evaluate the reliability of the source and it's content vs. article content:
- is cited source itself a 'reliable source'? (2. WP:RS) If not, stop there; look for another, or abandon.
- does cited source specifically meet 'verifiability' demands of article text? (1. WP:V) If not, stop there; look for another, abandon, or recast article claim to match verifiable and reliable source
- Maybe since No Original Research (aka WK:NOR) rounds out Wkipedia's 3 core content policies. Consider all 3 at once. (This one is too often violated by editors on technical subjects: just because I can personally check a factoid doesn't make it meet the other 2 required core content policies)
Let these 3 official WP Policies be your guide. Everything else is detail - master these interlocking principles and you'll be fine. In this case, that last one (NOR - No Original Research) may come into play.
- In contrast to traditional Unix-based editors like Emacs or Vim, Geany more closely resembles programming editors common on Microsoft Windows such as Notepad++, which also uses Scintilla.[citation needed]
Seems like a complex claim, saying a few things at once. Does your intended source really back up all the claims of that sentence? It might be better to edit the sentence to match what a verifiable and reliable source can attest about just one factoid.
Hope that helps. Please reply here for any clarification. -- Paulscrawl (talk) 15:15, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
