[edit]Brazoria was named by Stephen F. Austin, who wrote that he would call the place "Brassoria, for I know of no other place like it in the world." He did get this derivation from the Brazos River, named by the Spanish (Brazos de los Dios -- the Arms of God), that runs through the county and by the city of Brazoria. The mouth of the Brazos River meets the Gulf of Mexico in this county of the State of Texas, USA. It is south of Houston and west of Galveston, Texas. 99.140.140.116 (talk) 04:50, 21 March 2009 (UTC) TEM-native_son

It's time to end the practical joke
[edit]Factually correct statements about the county jail and the state jails have been placed under the titles, "County Representation" and "State Representation", respectively. Both of these are in the section on Government and Politics. This subtle practical joke goes back, apparently, to the inception of this article in March 2001. Insert slow clap.
Okay, so it's time to move these paragraphs to a more appropriate section of the article, and give each of them an appropriate title, perhaps "County Jail" and "State Jail Facilities".
Also, it would be great to insert actual information about the county government, such as the names of the county judge, county commissioners, etc, that has gone missing all this time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vereverde (talk • contribs) 02:28, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
