Meetup
[edit]Your name is on the list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC for December 12. In case you forgot to check the page, the venue and time have been both been set. We are planning on meeting at the Moonstruck Diner at 1:30pm. Just wanted to let you know. -- – Ram-Man (comment) (talk)[[]] 23:08, Dec 8, 2004 (UTC)
RFC pages on VfD
[edit]Should RFC pages be placed on VfD to be deleted? I'm considering removing Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Slrubenstein, Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Jwrosenzweig and Wikipedia:Requests for comment/John Kenney from WP:VFD. Each of them was listed by CheeseDreams. Your comments on whether I should do this would be appreciated. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:21, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)
The village and town of Geneseo, New York sure as hell do NOT need to be merged. They are two different entities. As far as clean-up goes, I and some others have worked on it, but apparently someone has a "personal interest" in the region and puts in whatever he likes best, including comments robbed from the official web pages. Stepp-Wulf 05:21, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC).
- You are absolutely right about the clean-up needed in Geneseo. I suspect the the original author did not know there were two different places. The problem seems to be in recovering the correct census data. Stepp-Wulf 07:08, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC).
I don't think including a list such as this is too useful in a composer's article; I think perhaps a summary in prose might be more suitable? What about something like:
- Chopin's compositional output consists mainly of piano music; most important among these include his .....
I will move the summary you re-inserted to the top of the list page; I think it's better to be greeted than that then a massive opus list. Tell me what you think... --bleh fu talk fu 05:32, Jan 21, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for adding the actual number of panels. I see this number is widely available online; do you know how many are full and how many are partial? --SPUI 19:10, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Wikipedians who blog
[edit]Hi! if you have a moment, could you please see m:Wikinews and blogs to comment? We're interested in learning how Wikinews can work with bloggers; what they might be interested in, how they can take advantage of Wikinews, how they can contribute through their blogs, etc. Thanks! Amgine/talk
Image:Dining philosophers.png
[edit]Thanks for creating Image:Dining philosophers.png. It looks great! I have two requests, however, to fix some technical problems with the image. First, the image of Aristotle comes from Image:Aristotle.jpg, whose copyright status is unknown. If the Aristotle pic is protected by copyright, then your DP pic could be a violation. Could you replace it? And the pics of the other philosophers, could you double-check and make sure they're available under a free license?
Also, your illustration includes both forks and knives. Unfortunately, this defeats the purpose of the illustration. The Dining philosophers problem requires that each philosopher needs two forks, one held in each hand, in order to eat. Could you remove the knives?
Thanks so much, – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 14:35, Feb 10, 2005 (UTC)
Request for review
[edit]May I request you to take a look at Tamil language for reviewing? Thanks. -- Sundar 09:15, Feb 14, 2005 (UTC)
Vim folding
[edit]i'm trying to add folding to the vim syntax file. But not much success: http://ie.suberic.net/~kevin/vim-wiki/ . i'm still trying to figure it out, but if you have any ideas it would be great. --KevinLyda 10:12, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Proofreading
[edit]Hi BD,
Take a look at the current Quarto #2, which is in the mood for final proofreading. You might want to coordinate with Rose while you're at it. +sj + 20:40, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Enjoyed your article! Band music usually gets no respect... nor coverage. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to finishing concert band. :-) Mindspillage (spill yours?) 04:27, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Grinning at the reference for the Variations... I was at that concert, though that was before the three years I played in the group. :-) Perhaps I ought to start John Barnes Chance... Mindspillage (spill yours?) 01:53, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
8th to eighth
[edit]Wikipedia manual of style recommends the use of 8th in preference to eighth. FearÉIREANN 23:00, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
It was just vandalised by 67.180.202.155 I'm sure it's the same person as 67.180.1.104 who vandalised the same page four days ago. Should these two addresses or maybe the whole 67.180.* network be placed into Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress? Cmapm 20:05, 7 May 2005 (UTC)
read this:
-re: drugs and drumcorps, let's chalk it up to first hand experience, why don't we? the first time i smoked pot? drumcorps. the first (and second, and third and on and on) time i got blind stinking drunk was at a drumcorps, with liquor bought for me by staff members. as far as the sex goes, let's just say i am a little too smart to let some of those rotten guard sluts anywhere near my dick, but it's impossible to ignore that it goes on. and hazing? ask around about "rookie talent" and you will probably be pleassantly surprised, especially if you enjoy stories involving semen, urine, pubic hair, feces, public sex acts, food, blood, or any of a veriety of other fluids and debris. thanks for taking an interest in keeping the safe and sanitary outward appearance of drum and bugle corps, but what we want to be true isn't always the truth. --24.228.2.57 04:36, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
I think you're right...there was no need for that tag. I often get overzealous with that tag, feeling it's better to err on the side of cautious and use it more frequently rather than less frequently...maybe because I'm some sort of perfectionist, and nearly all articles, including this one, have some degree of overly informal language. I think the latter was my chief complaint. Sorry for the inconvenience this time. Best, David --Dpr 02:13, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
