the term stalker

[edit]

your intro says the term 'stalker' was origionaly used yaddah yaddah. I just wanted to point out that rodeside picnic and the film stalker preceded the infamous nuclear incident by about 15 years. the Cernobyl dudes called themselves stalkers because of the book and film and book, not the other way around. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.15.222.138 (talk) 23:13, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article Fix

[edit]

Ok, I'm going to fix up this page over the next few days. If anyone is willing to completely rewrite the plot section that would be appreciated, as I have not yet finished the game (and I already found out more than I wanted to by reading the first few paragraphs). In particular, it might be good to have separate setting and plot sections since I've been playing for over 10 hours and I still don't really understand the actual nature of the zone. well, I didn't until I read the start of the plot section :) Playwrite (talk) 09:37, 21 July 2008 (UTC) I removed the construction tag because I simply haven't had the time to get back to the page. There is still a bunch of work that needs to be done, I'll check back every once in a while since in my experience the talk space is always dead.[reply]

When Clear Sky come out this page will get alot of traffic, so we should fix it before then. Playwrite (talk) 04:43, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently editing the gameplay section The faction sub-section seems rather unnecessary, since factions rarely have any impact on gameplay. thoughts? Playwrite (talk) 13:40, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've done some substantial work, but I'm not finished yet by any means. We still need a story section and the to do list is up to date- and you can see its nowhere near empty. Playwrite (talk) 13:39, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, there are 2 major things left. Firstly, More references are needed (which I will work on). Second, a separate section from the plot describing the zone in some kind of detail should be included.

PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE CONSTRUCTION TAG. I will be gone for a few days, after which I will be back to work on the page. Playwrite (talk) 09:37, 25 July 2008 (UTC) Hm, I though I deleted that comment ages ago. I haven't had the time (or entirely the inclination) to get back on this, so I removed the construction tag. Things still need fixing, as included in the to-do list. Playwrite (talk) 14:27, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Weapons

[edit]

hello playwrite! I was wondering if you would like to include gameplay related stuff like how the weapons in the game require you to really know how to aim through a gun sight and use the markings on the scope for shots of varying distance for the sniper rifles. eg you have to know what those markings on the grenade launcher mean or you'd not be able to hit anything, just like in real life. Not just estimating with the super imposed crosshair. feel free to delete this post if you have already thought about it/ this is the wrong place to put this post. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.13.3 (talk) 19:14, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you can work that into the gameplay section that would be worthwhile. Also, find a source if you can. Playwrite (talk) 04:39, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Supposed bullet physics

[edit]

"The games use of bullet physics is similar in nature to tactical shooters such as Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter or Operation Flashpoint. Bullets are affected by gravity, bounced against solid surfaces at oblique angles..." Bad example as GRAW neither has bullet drop nor ricochets. It doesn't even use projectile weapons, all weapons (bar grenade and rocket launchers) are of the hitscan type.82.135.122.186 (talk) 10:44, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to change it to a more appropriate example. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 07:34, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would point out that there are actually 2 versions of GRAW: the PC version and the console versions. the PC version is a tactical shooter, which as far as I know contains at least richochets. it certainly contains traditional firearms, unless you know something about firearms that I don't. Playwrite (talk) 18:35, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hitscan weapons do not simulate the actual location of the bullet in flight. There is no travel time or alteration of course, it simply traces a straight line and deals damage instantly to the point of impact. D Boland (talk) 00:43, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Am I missing something? True that there are richochetts, but bullets aren't effected by gravity in this game. This is evidenced by the sniper rifles, there are no adjustments to make, the bullet lands on the centre of the crosshair each time, regardless of range. Only a random dispersion variable is used to create 'inaccuracy'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.97.40.238 (talk) 11:44, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies - the ranges are very low for engagement - I turned up the gravity - and lowered pistol speeds to something more around 300m/s and yes - very real gravity. A pity it never really features but still, the mentioning of the feature is accurate. 146.97.40.238 (talk) 13:20, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks interesting, but at the moment it's only speculation by fans. If it becomes solid evidence, this could turn into something big. Until then, don't jump the gun. --Scottie_theNerd 14:52, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Patches

[edit]

What patches would a copy of this game purchased in Canada require, US or rest of the world? Also my version is unpatches what patches should I get? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamhaw (talkcontribs) 01:13, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I imagine the US patches would work fine, since they use the same region encoding. However, this is the wrong place to ask forum-like questions, and I'm not sure we could make that information encyclopedic. Try GameFAQs or IGN to confirm. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 06:47, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks alot, I actually tried to find a forum but for some reason couldn't see it on the official site. Also there are plenty of game articles here that mention patches and bugs although I admit I have no idea about policy in regard to that. Jamhaw (talk) 00:12, 13 September 2008 (UTC)jamhaw[reply]

I'm not too up on my knowledge og policy on this matter, either. I's possible that a patches section would hold water, especially if you combine it with a mods section (Mods and Patches). If you want to give it a shot, here's some advice:

  • Mantain a neutral point of view. Saying that there are patches out there, and giving a few specific examples, would be neutral. Saying that this patch "Rox!!!!..!!!!!!" or another one "Sux@#$%!!!!..!!", regardless of whether or not either is true, would not be neutral. Advertising would also be bad, so don't point to one patch site as better than all others, even if it is a really good site.
  • Source the living batcrap out of it. Nothing kills newly introduced data faster than a lack of sources, especially if it is controvesial. Sources will increase the section's chances of not being deleted as cruft, so make sure you get them.

Good luck. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 05:14, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler Banner?

[edit]

Why doesn't the section with the endings have a spoilers banner? >_< —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.73.174.92 (talk) 22:27, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is a question I've seen brought up before, on many other articles. From what I've heard, it's been the decision of the wise ones that spoiler tags are largely unnecessary. This is first and foremost, an encyclopedia, and spoiler tags throw off the encyclopedic feel of an article. Also, for sections that obviously have spoilers, like "Story" or "Endings", what's the point? It's obvious from the name of the section that it has spoilers; it would be kind of like the classic line from Voyage of the Dawn Treader, "You came over the water, eh? Powerful wet stuff, that is." My gosh, I hope that line's in the movie! Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 05:56, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Inspriation

[edit]

The plot of the film STALKER as found here is very closely based on the game. The cordoned area is obviously the typical place of events, "the zone". However the characters in the film such as the guide is closer to that of the plot of clear skies, the main character, Merc, being the guide in the FMV at the beginning of the game.

The room in the film, where it grants you "your innermost wishes", is obviously the wish granter.

Anyway, a link to this article would be interesting if people wish to find and view this film. --144.32.81.79 (talk) 13:22, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This film is from 1979. It's plot, character, settings etc. are all based on the novel "Roadside Picnic", and not on the game. The game however, draws inspiration from the film. D Boland (talk) 00:40, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaced engine demo screenshot with a better one

[edit]

thumb|300px Hi, all. I replaced the screenshot I took to demonstrate the engine's more advanced features with a better one (has HDR lighting in it, and was taken without using demo_record to alter the camera angle). For anyone who's interested, the original image is to the right. --Veratien (talk) 19:19, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - is not the first computer game inspired by "Roadside Picnic" and "Stalker".

[edit]

There was one more computer game - a long long time ago (~1987-1989) - it was a game called "zone" running under localized version of UNIX BSD on PDP-11 (OS DEMOS/MNOS on CM-1420) - interactive 2D/text_mode game (smth like 80*25). Nowadays I tell my son who plays "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." that I was doing almost the same more than twenty years ago :-) IMHO this predecessor game is to be mentioned as well, otherwise most of the players will suppose "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." is the first computer implementation of "Roadside Picnic". The "zone" was originally computer-modelled in 80s...

Okay. Provide some evidence of this game's existence, then feel free to put it in. I'm not sure where you should put it, though; you may want to ask someone. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 07:33, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A Roadside Pinic was also the inspriation of the film stalker please see "possible inspiration" above.--144.32.81.79 (talk) 09:45, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Oblivion Lost" mod

[edit]

There is a mod that I have for this game that significantly changes the game to be more like it was when it was Oblivion Lost instead of Shadow of Chernobyl. Would it be appropriate to make a section dealing with this mod in this article, under the heading "Major Modifications"? Dragonshardz (talk) 19:04, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There exist mod sections in other articles, even featured articles, so I have no problem with a mod section here. Just bear in mind, if you use the word "mod", be sure you provide a link to the mod article. Also, try to keep the section neutral; don't let it become an advertisement for mod websites. Finally, be sure you provide sources for your mod information. Last time I looked, the Half Life articles had some good mod sections you can use as examples. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 07:07, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll do that. I'll need to find where I got it from again. That shouldn't be too hard. At neutrality is fairly easy, most of the section will be describing exactly what major modifications are made to the game. --Dragonshardz (talk) 15:54, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added some information on the Oblivion Lost mod according to the readme distributed with it, if anyone wants to add information on the mod feel free. Note that currently the link to StalkerFiles leads to the main page and not the download, if someone could fix that it would be great. --Dragonshardz (talk) 17:54, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A quick addition, thee aren't any source notes because all information is taken from the mod's readme, and so it isn't available on the 'Net. --Dragonshardz (talk) 17:48, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Sequel

[edit]

According to an interview between Rock, Paper, Shotgun and Oleg Yavorsky of GSC Game World:

RPS: Is there much you still have to do with the original Stalker setting? Can we expect another “new” Stalker title from GSC one day?

Yavorsky: I assure you there’s a lot of ideas still untouched about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe and setting. We are building plans for the full-fledged sequel game, but it’s too early to talk about it at this point.

MastaFighta (talk) 20:13, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bah, I forgot the source - http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/05/25/interview-gsc-on-call-of-pripyat/

MastaFighta (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:30, 6 June 2009 (UTC).[reply]

If it's too early for him to talk about it, I'd argue that it's too early for us to talk about it. When he has more to say about it, it will warant its own article, not just a section on this article. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 05:23, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. vs S.t.a.l.k.e.r. vs Stalker

[edit]

All three variations are used throughout the article. We need to pick one and use it consistently. If anyone knows of any kind of guideline that applies to this, that would be great. If not we should probably just go with the first. 74.178.242.162 (talk) 05:28, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The second one is just silly, as it cannot logically be derived from the box art. If I had to guess, I'd go with the third one, based on this guidline. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 06:09, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject: Video games assessment

[edit]
B-Class Criteria

Taken from WP:BCLASS

  1. The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations where necessary.
It has reliable sources, and any important or controversial material which is likely to be challenged is cited. The use of citation templates such as {{cite web}} is not required, but the use of <ref></ref> tags is encouraged.
  2. The article reasonably covers the topic, and does not contain obvious omissions or inaccuracies.
It contains a large proportion of the material necessary for an A-Class article, although some sections may need expansion, and some less important topics may be missing.
  3. The article has a defined structure.
Content should be organized into groups of related material, including a lead section and all the sections that can reasonably be included in an article of its kind.
  4. The article is reasonably well-written.
The prose contains no major grammatical errors and flows sensibly, but it certainly need not be "brilliant". The Manual of Style need not be followed rigorously.
  5. The article contains supporting materials where appropriate.
Illustrations are encouraged, though not required. Diagrams and an infobox etc. should be included where they are relevant and useful to the content.
  6. The article presents its content in an appropriately accessible way.
It is written with as broad an audience in mind as possible. Although Wikipedia is more than just a general encyclopedia, the article should not assume unnecessary technical background and technical terms should be explained or avoided where possible.

Unfortunately there are multiple issues with the article keep it from passing WP:BCLASS:

  • There are multiple paragraphs that are not sourced. This fails criteria B#1.
  • There are multiple issues which fail B#4
  • The prose is in need of copy editing and merging of several small paragraphs. Additionally the plot is 936 words long; typically we follow WP:FILMPLOT which states that a plot should be at or below 700 words.
  • The setting section can be trimmed and it and the plot section can be combined into a Synopsis section, with a level three heading for Setting, and a level three heading for Plot
  • All of the gameplay sections and be merged, and one of the gameplay images would be better served there.
  • The Technology section should be renamed Development. Additionally "Development delay, leak and release" should be simply "Marketing and release"

Given these issues, I would suggest a peer review. --Teancum (talk) 13:34, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dated screenshots

[edit]

Both screenshots seem to come from earlier (uglier) beta or alpha versions of the game. I know, the articles are not supposed to advertise games but to provide information on them. But providing screenshots not coming from the final game without commenting on that fact is simply wrong. Either the screenshots should be replaced by newer ones, removed or information should be added on where they come from. Personally I don't know what versions were used for those screenshots, so I'm not the one to correct the texts beneath the screens. --F4LL0UT (talk) 19:27, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You can of course, feel free to upload newer version of screenshots - as far as I can see GSC Game World allows the users to publish screenshots of all their games under GFDL. Sir Lothar (talk) 07:54, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge STALKER 2 article into main article

[edit]

With the studio closed and the game (STALKER 2) cancelled yet again, I don't believe notability exists for the article to stand on it's own. Should be merged back into the subsection of the main article. I'm not sure any details actually need to be merged, as the subsection and article are fairly close already. -- ferret (talk) 15:12, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose It is possible cancelled games become notable and deserving of a wikipedia article in their own right, such as Dungeon Keeper 3. I would not be surprised if, over the coming months, enough interviews and secondary sources cover the demise of GSC and the Stalker series to make a stand-alone article on this cancelled game worthwhile.-- Cooper 42(Talk)(Contr) 22:42, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's pretty crystal ball. The article can always be split out if it gains notability on it's own, but "might gain notability" isn't valid. More than likely such coverage (demise of GSC) would belong in the GSC article anyways. -- ferret (talk) 23:12, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ditto above. Might become notable is not really an argument, because we can split when it does become notable. However, today, it is not and is unlikely to pass AfD. Instead, a merge is better. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 16:38, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't agree. I think that STALKER 2 was a different game than SoC, and "merging" two completely different games, completed or not, is counter-productive. MAYBE merging it into the upcoming venture from Vostok Games as a "Could Have Been" section, since they say they are basing the new game on their previous work for STALKER 2, but not into SoC.ahhzz —Preceding undated comment added 16:24, 4 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]
When we have an article on Survarium, we can merge/move it there after consensus. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 16:38, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have performed the merge and redirect, based on this discussion. Two editors for. The only oppose was based on crystal ball that the article might one day be notable. It can always be split back in the future if notability is gained to stand on it's own. -- ferret (talk) 16:49, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Beta Contest

[edit]

I removed this paragraph from the article:

THQ ran a competition in January 2007 offering the winners the chance to play the beta version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., in a 24-hour marathon session. The event, scheduled to take place on 24 January 2007, was subsequently changed to a 12-hour session days before it was supposed to occur. On the morning of the event, the winners were met at the venue by the THQ staff that had organized the event, who were embarrassed to report that they had been unable to get any copies of the game.

I can find no actual information about this contest, other than uncited forum posts. Considering how widely publicized the development of this game was, I find it hard to believe that a huge mishap like this would go unpublished.

Ecnepsnai (talk) 23:06, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm surprised that paragraph lasted so long! I added it not long after the event happened (or, er, didn't happen), as I was one of the "lucky winners".

Honestly I'm surprised it didn't get reported on either, but then I didn't reach out to any of the gaming media at the time (I had a raging hangover), and I assume the other winners didn't either. I didn't even make it as far as the venue on that day; I was still on the train to London to go to the event when a guy from Multiplay who goes by the name Elbonio called me to tell me the event was off.

THQ had already promised all the winners a free copy of the original game, which I did eventually receive - but they also promised to send a copy of Company of Heroes as compensation for cancelling the event, which just to rub salt in the wound never actually showed up.

Just had a dig through a few old email accounts in an effort to track down something more substantial on it, but I've not had any luck. The original contest is vaguely mentioned at https://web.archive.org/web/20070116085021/http://www.thq-games.com/uk/competitions/index/1, whilst the original contest post was located at http://www.thq-games.com/uk/news/show/1533 - but I've been unable to find it on any web archive. Googling that link finds a couple of discussions about it at the time, but unfortunately not much seems to have survived the intervening 13 years.

Updates to Plot Section

[edit]

Based on the recommendation of the assessment above, I've gone through and overhauled the Plot section. Word count has been reduced to approximately 640 and the content has been revised and condensed. Grammar, structure, phrasing, and spelling have all been cleaned up as well. Removed noosphere link, added a link to Clear Sky page at the reference to Scar, and changed the first sentence to state number of endings and that the described ending is considered canon in the trilogy.

Please feel free to review and revise if necessary. The next adjustment might be to combine Plot & Setting into one Synopsis section as assessment advised above. "I said come in! Don't stand there!" --SDRobots (talk) 15:19, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

With March 6, 2024 release of Xbox/PS version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. original trilogy, the official subtitle has now been updated to "Shadow of Chornobyl"

[edit]

With the March 6, 2024 release for PS/Xbox of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone Trilogy the subtitle for ALL S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games now have Ukrainian language-based spelling for Ukrainian сities (e.g., Chornobyl and Prypiat), I think it makes sense to add a separate section "Title" for this article to prevent confusion from the readers as to why the games subtitle is now "Shadow of Chornobyl".

Note, since March 6, 2024 there are now a ton of official announcements about the change "Shadow of Chornobyl", so making article update for this should be non-contentious (although I noticed that there was already some edit warring recently by Samf4u who reverted back to Chernobyl, from IP's updated Chornobyl). Below please see the sources that verify the "Shadow of Chornobyl" update that I will be using in the article update:

Sources from the official developer websites:

Sources from the official Xbox store website:

Sources from the official PlayStation store website:

I realize that it might be a big change for some folks that may be used to the old Russian spelling of Chornobyl/Prypiat, but please refrain from any pointless edit warring and just please be understanding that this is an official update from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developers, and these updates to the article are simply reflecting it. 163.53.144.106 (talk) 05:06, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please refrain from accusing other editors of edit warring. I would advise reading up on WP:CONSENSUS. Making a talk page discussion is a good start but does not give you free rein to continue to undo the reverts. ToeSchmoker (talk) 12:16, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @ToeSchmoker:, I did not revert anyone's editios, in fact my updates are done fully in the spirit of WP:BOLD. You on the other hand, just flat out revered everything I edited (diff), implying that all my edits were non-consructive. I honestly disagree with your revert - all my edits were backed by multiple sources, whereas your revert simply references WP: consensus. Well consensus is not set in stone and per WP:BOLD when new stuff happens (as it did here, because developers updated the titles for the old games), we can worked towards a new WP: consensus that incorporates those updates. Your flat-out revert of all my edits does not seem like a constructive way towards achieving that new WP:consensus. 163.53.144.106 (talk) 12:43, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted back to the last revision prior to your changes that another user (Samf4u) disputed as indicated by their reverting because in this case the next step is to establish consensus via talk page discussion. Samf4u was not edit warring but it would however be edit warring if you were to continually make your suggested edits when other users are disputing them. I take issue with you stating that I am "implying that all [your] edits were non-consructive." I am not and I would appreciate you did not do this in future. Thank you. Hi @ToeSchmoker: I thing we got on a wrong foot - I didn't try to accuse anyone of edit warring I was just hoping one could be avoided. Per your suggestion of "next step is to establish consensus via talk page discussion", I would like to summarize my edits and would like to understand feedback from both you @ToeSchmoker: and @Samf4u:.
So summary of my edits:
  • On March 6, 2024 with developers' release for PS/Xbox of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. of Legends of the Zone Trilogy the subtitles for ALL S.T.A.L.K.E.R games was aligned to now have Ukrainian language-based spelling for Ukrainian сities (e.g., Chornobyl and Prypiat); the sources I provided above (including updated official game website https://www.stalker-game.com/en/) confirm this subtitle change. Specifically the subtitles for the 1st and 3rd games in the franchise were renamed to "Shadow of Chornobyl" and "Call of Prypiat" (earlier in March 2022 the subtitle for the 4th game was also renamed to "Heart of Chornobyl"). This way Ukrainian city Chornobyl is spelled the same in both 1st and 4th instalment in the game.
  • 2) My updates had 2 primary components: 1) add a new section called "Title" explaining how the title/subtitle was changed by developers a few times: "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Lost" -> "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl" -> "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl". 2) update the article itself to reflect updated title "Shadow of Chernobyl" (note that English language gaming news websites didn't report on this, but a couple of Ukrainian language gaming news websites did report on it, namely at itc.ua and at games.24tv.ua -> I included the links to those links in my updates too.
I would really appreciate your guys feedback regarding my edits, so we could establish a consensus via talk page. Thanks. 163.53.144.106 (talk) 22:59, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi all, My only edit to the article was to correct what I perceived as spelling errors while using Huggle. I don't have much interest in such topics so I'll leave it to you. Cheers! Samf4u (talk) 23:17, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the most recent edit is satisfactory in which the lead now mentions the differing spelling for consoles. This is most accurate as the title remains unchanged for the original/PC version of the game. The updated title could be mentioned under "development and release" with regards to the update about the console release - I don't think a whole new section to explain the difference is necessary. Hi Samf4u thanks for the reply - based on your reply it sounds like you don't mind my updates to reflect post March 6, 2024 updates that clarify that the title is now "Shadow of Chornobyl".--163.53.144.106 (talk) 19:44, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi ToeSchmoker the most recent update [1] is actually misleading because "Shadow of Chornobyl" is not a "console title" as the recent update stated, rather it's an official update of the title in general: see my sources above where it clearly states that the original trilogy's official website https://www.stalker-game.com/en/ clearly states that the 1st games subtitle is now "Shadow of Chornobyl" (the official trilogy website does not call it "console title"); similarly user agreement for the original trilogy of the games https://www.gsc-game.com/eula/USER-LICENSE-AGREEEMENT.pdf clearly states that the games subtitle after update on March 6, 2024 is now "Shadow of Chornobyl" (note that user agreement does not say anything about "console title", it just the title).--163.53.144.106 (talk) 19:44, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not misleading. The original PC version of the game still uses the spelling "Chernobyl" across all the major retailers (Steam, GOG, G2A to name a few) still selling the game, as far as I can see (and the same for Call of Pripyat). Even with regards to the new re-release trilogy, you have the likes of Eurogamer, IGN and Gamespot continuing to use the original spellings when specifically referring to the console release. GSC Game Worlds even uses the old spelling on their website ToeSchmoker (talk) 20:31, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
